Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have experienced a boom beginning around the year 2000; not surprisingly, patent applications on AI/ML-related inventions have followed suit. This upsurge in patent filings has sparked a discourse among stakeholders and the Patent Office on how AI fits within the patent framework. This talk will explore patentability and enforcement considerations as they apply to AI, and provide practical suggestions for optimizing patent protection in this area of rapid technological development and as yet evolving law
