Joseph J. Wang is a registered patent attorney and principal at Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner. He practices in a variety of technological disciplines, including software, Internet, digital media, and mechanical innovations, as well as industrial designs.
When you work with Joseph, one of the qualities you’ll notice is his responsiveness. He explains, “I try to make sure everyone is heard. When I receive an email, I know there’s someone on the other end who needs something, and I want to help make sure they are taken care of quickly.”
Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA with a National Merit Corporate Scholarship. He originally chose this field after becoming intrigued with the idea of working on national or private space systems. His degree qualifies him to joke, “Well, we do have a rocket scientist in the firm.”
After graduating from UCLA, Joseph’s keen parallel interest in computer science led to a career in computing technology. For 14 years, he worked in the engineering of computer systems, embedded systems, software, and digital media. Joseph supported technologies for computer graphics, video production, video post-production, media compression, media broadcasting, media distribution, and user interactivity. During this time, he performed diverse business roles, such as customer support, field service, technical marketing, technical training, technical publications, and software quality assurance.
As his career progressed, Joseph searched for an opportunity to keep growing. This desire led him to law school. Joseph earned his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University. The business experience from his previous career helps him counsel clients now. He explains, “I enjoy advising clients and supporting their business plans as a trusted advisor. My work is not just about pursuing a patent, but about helping my clients pursue the right patents that fit their greater goals.” One of Joseph’s greatest strengths is that he sincerely cares about clients’ fundamental interests. “I try to look at the big picture and then support that.”
