Joseph P. Mehrle is a registered patent attorney practicing in software, electronic, and mechanical applications, prosecution, licensing, and related opinions, including machine learning and AI application drafting. He received his undergraduate degree in computer science from the Ohio State University, and a law degree from Chase College of Law in Northern Kentucky University.
Before pursuing a law degree, Joe worked as a software developer for more than nine years. He also managed a group of software developers for three years. He holds a patent for a software invention related to automatic text classification and indexing. This practical experience as a software developer helps him protect clients’ interests now. In addition to possessing technical knowledge, Joe understands clients’ business needs. He explains, “I know how important and expensive product development is for my clients, and my work helps protect what they have done. Clients rely on me, so I feel like I am part of their team. I feel driven to fulfill my role in pursuing the broadest and best quality patent protection I can.”
Joe enjoys the results-based aspect of his career. He also appreciates the opportunity to learn about new technology and observe where technology is headed.
Joe is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Cincinnati Bar Association. Outside of work, he enjoys watching baseball and college football. He also appreciates spending time with his family, and trying out new technologies.
