Jeff Cobia is a registered patent attorney with highly useful exposure to different types of engineering and law. He earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois in General Engineering, a specific major in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department featuring a rigorous study of mechanical and electrical engineering as well as computer science. He has a passion for working with new technologies in financial, medical, and software industries, especially those that use machine learning and other cutting edge technology. Outside of patent law, Jeff has a strong dedication to volunteering, having served as president of a chapter of a national service fraternity in college, having volunteered at the Minnesota Family Justice Center throughout law school, and having recently finished five years as a member of the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights, including multiple years as Secretary. More recently, Jeff became a Board member of The Fund for Legal Aid, and he serves in a mentorship role to many clerks at SLW.
