Keith Lim brings in-depth legal and engineering experience to his role at the Schwegman firm. During more than 7 years of experience as an attorney, he has provided IP strategy, opinions and counseling, due diligence, and global portfolio management, as well as worked in IP transactions and agreements, and patent prosecution. Technologies he has worked on range from machine learning and artificial intelligence to e-commerce, mobile applications, medical devices, electronics, digital signal processing and more. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a U.S. Patent Agent in Seoul, South Korea. There, he drafted and prosecuted USPTO applications for Korean companies, and gained experience in international marketing. Before that, he took part in an Engineer in Leadership Program at a large security and aerospace company, where he worked on cutting edge technology and rotated through experiences as a systems engineer, systems analyst, and systems designer, as well as in systems architecture.

Keith studied electrical and computer systems, with a minor in social psychology, at Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, and then earned a master’s degree in Systems Engineering at Cornell University. He received his law degree from University of Michigan Law School. His favorite aspects of being a patent attorney include helping businesses grow by protecting R&D efforts and innovation; understanding and navigating competitive landscapes; and developing interesting IP strategy custom-tailored to business needs. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and spending time with friends and family.
