Three New Webinars Discuss Current (and Global) Issues
In March and early April, three new SLW Institute webinars provide opportunities to learn about emerging tech and international patent practice. These webinars discuss AgTech and climate change, Chinese patent practice, and Amazon’s Utility Patent Neutral Evaluation process. Two of these webinars are now available on demand, and a third is scheduled for April. Schwegman’s SLW Institute provides blogs, webinars and an IP Playbook to help you advance your IP knowledge.
AgTech and Social Consciousness: Climate Change
Climate change is an important issue that impacts much of the AgTech universe. The technology required to mitigate aspects of climate change/greenhouse gases is being patented at an accelerated rate. During this webinar, Schwegman Analytics Chair Mark Stignani discusses who is patenting what, as well as highlight multiple trends and vectors that are emerging in this agricultural technology. Mark also discusses which companies are incorporating climate change mitigation technology in their global patent filings. He makes a comparison between various countries that are encouraging development of climate change mitigation tech, examines the top filers in different tech subcategories, and extrapolates on market trends. Climate change will be with us long into the future and AgTech appears to be readily embracing these new technologies. This thought-provoking webinar took place on March 11, and is now available on demand.
10 Things to Know About the Chinese Patent Process
How does Chinese patent practice compare to practice in the United States? Find out in this March 12 webinar presented by Director of China Intellectual Property Practice Aaron Wininger. The presentation covers practice issues including expediting patent prosecution, reducing fees, formalities requirements peculiar to the CNIPA, and claim drafting. The emphasis is on explaining CNIPA patent practice while highlighting the differences from US practice. This webinar is now available on demand.
Amazon’s Utility Patent Neutral Evaluation Process
Amazon’s Utility Patent Neutral Evaluation process gives patent owners an additional avenue to take, if their utility patent is being infringed by another seller on Amazon. In this April 2 webinar, a panel will discuss the practical implications. Schwegman Analytics Chair & Firm Compliance Officer Mark Stignani will moderate. Of Counsel attorney Francois deVilliers will discuss his experience trying to enforce on Amazon during his time at Plantronics. Director of China Intellectual Property Practice Aaron Wininger will provide insight regarding a defensive perspective, and Trademark Principal Pamela Huff will discuss Amazon Brand Registry. This panel discussion is scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at 1 p.m. Central. Click here to register.
